Mike Patel was born in Uganda when his parents emigrated from India. He was brought up in London and the graduate of London Business School. Mike was a soccer enthusiast, played for Crystal Palace, English Premier League Club Matches, and Southampton. In 1981, he moved to the United States of America to play for the Atlanta Chiefs.

He is now a renowned real estate developer, hotelier, founding member of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) in 1989. President Bill Clinton invited Mike on his visit to India as the part of White House’s Initiative on Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders. He is appointed to “Clinton Foundation on Global Initiative” by the President for the fundraising for earthquake-hit Kutch region in Gujarat, projects relative to hunger, climate change, and AIDS.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair presented him with the “2007 Award for International Cooperation” between the United Kingdom and the United States of America. He is working on improving the relations amongst the ethnic communities across the globe. He is a recipient of “Ellis Island Medal Of Honor in 2008” presented to outstanding Americans. Mike is part of the non-profit organization “Realizing the Dream Inc.” He visited India in 2009 with many dignitaries to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King’s tour to India in 1959.
